Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 27, 2026
Overview
Volt Butler operates voltbutler.com as an electricity rate comparison and information service. We take a minimal approach to data collection. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What we collect
We collect two kinds of information:
ZIP codes you submit. When you enter a ZIP code in our comparison tool, that ZIP is used to route you to relevant content (your state's hub, an affiliate partner's enrollment flow, or an indication that we don't yet serve your state). We do not store ZIP codes attached to personal identifiers; we use them in transit only.
Anonymous analytics. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies or collect personal data. Plausible gathers aggregated information about page views, traffic sources, device types, and outbound click events. This data is not used to identify individual visitors.
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account information. We do not require account creation. We do not use tracking cookies.
How we use information
Aggregate analytics help us understand which content is useful, which pages need improvement, and which referral sources drive traffic. ZIP-routed traffic to affiliate partners is how we earn commissions to fund the site.
We do not sell any data. We do not share data with marketers, data brokers, or advertising platforms.
Third parties
When you click an affiliate link to a partner site (such as a licensed electricity supplier or comparison platform), you leave voltbutler.com and the partner's own privacy policy applies. We earn a commission on qualifying signups; that arrangement does not affect what data we collect from you.
Our analytics provider, Plausible Analytics, processes aggregated anonymous data only. Their privacy practices are described at plausible.io/privacy.
Your rights
Because we do not store personal data tied to identities, there is no individual data to access, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold information about you and want to inquire, you may contact us through our contact page.
California residents (CCPA) and EU residents (GDPR) have specific rights regarding data collection. Because our data practices are minimal and cookie-free, most of these rights do not require active fulfillment on our part. If you have questions about how either framework applies to your visit, please contact us.
Children's privacy
Volt Butler is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
